EVERY PATCH COUNTS CIRCULAR ECONOMY, INTEGRAL TO OUR PROCESS

We make clothing sustainably, and that is not a one-off act or a fancy marketing gimmick. It has been our way of life ever since Ruskovilla was founded in 1981. On every step of the way, from the cultivation of the raw material to its return to nature, the aim is to ensure that people and nature live in complete harmony.

FOR ARTS AND CRAFTS Our high-quality raw materials are a sought-after material among artisans as well. Edge strips of wool fleece knit have become popular rug rags. Wool wad and wool fleece strips are suitable for arts and crafts, whereas silk patches are carded and spun together with Finnsheep wool into knitting yarns at Pirtin Kehräämö spinnery, that also produces our soft flocky yarn. The sock mending yarn is Pirkka yarn by Taito Pirkanmaa. a long useful life for garments. As time goes by and usage starts to show as wear, it is time to mend the garment. It is best to do the mending when the knit starts to grow thin but holes have not yet appeared. To make mending easier, our product range includes fabric patches made for us by the Finnish company FabPatch Oy from our organic silk wool. The elastic patches make it easy to mend your wool and silk wool garments conveniently without a needle and thread. Oval-shaped wool fleece patches are suitable for mending the elbows or knees of wool fleece products. The handy mending thread package includes a needle and makes it easy to repair small holes in wool or silk wool garments even on the go. MEND TO EXTEND THE LIFE CYCLE Proper washing and storage are essential for

Working for the good of people and nature is at the core of our operations. We believe that underwear, being in direct contact with the skin, plays a major role in the well-being of people. Our products are made responsibly from certified organic natural fibres, with respect for nature and people, from the fibre to the very last stitch. NO HURRY RESULTS IN LESS WASTE Ruskovilla’s products are designed and manufactured in Artjärvi, Finland, in an old dairy building built in 1927. Since all our employees are in-house on a monthly salary, there is ample time to plan the various stages of production carefully. When the material is cut, the patterns are placed in such a way that as little valuable raw material is left over as possible. Small pieces can be used, for example, to make baby mittens or patch material for repairing clothes. The same precision and minimising waste is repeated at all stages. NEW LIFE FOR PATCHES However, small patches are inevitably left over during the cutting phase of clothes manufacturing. None of these are discarded, but delivered to Dafecor in Turenki, where they are shredded and carded into wadding. The wadding made from white wool and silk wool patches is delivered to Laatupeite in Tampere, where our wool-filled bedding is made. Dafecor manufactures, for example, parquet felt from the coloured patches.
