Tips for ensuring a good night’s sleep

If a baby’s sleep is disturbed, it can affect the entire family. A tired baby is a grumpy baby, and this can easily make adults tired, too. Luckily there are some tips to help your baby get a peaceful night’s sleep:

X Putting a baby to sleep on a sheepskin provides warmth and soothes the baby, especially during the cold season, and many babies sleep longer if they are on a sheepskin. X Swaddling a newborn soothes the startle reflex. Research shows that in addition to settling babies more quickly, swaddling also helps babies to sleep more deeply and for longer.

X Hold and cuddle the baby in the daytime, so that she or he receives enough contact while awake.

X Always feed your baby and change his or her nappy before putting him or her down to sleep.

X The optimal room temperature is around 22°C, and it’s good to keep the room dark during sleep time.

T I P : Research shows that putting a baby down to sleep on an animal skin for the first 3 months can reduce the risk of developing asthma and allergies later on.

X Dress your baby in breathable and sufficiently warm clothing.
